Lord, Make Our House A Home
Our house is not unusual,
It's made of brick, stone, wood and glass.
It has all the creature comforts,
For which one could possibly ask.
But something seemed to be left out;
We thought and thought but could not see,
Just what it was that was left out...
Just what was missing - what could it be?
We've lived here for many years,
We've had some laughter, and plenty of tears;
We've tried to live here
In peace and in harmony.
But something was missing,
We kept telling ourselves.
This house seemed empty,
So lifeless and void.
We tried to fill this house, you see,
With things we loved and enjoyed.
The things that made us feel happy...
But what was missing we could not see.
Then we sat in earnest prayer,
We heard a voice so very clear,
Then listened hard to understand
Just what that voice was telling us.
"Open your Bible, your heart and mind."
The voice did tell us, ever so kind;
"I will tell you what it is,
That will make your house a home."
So as we read we saw very clearly
Just what it was that we were missing.
We left out the very most important part;
We left out the One closest to our heart.
We left out You, O precious Lord,
And now we ask You to forgive;
For this is where we need You to live
To share our home and our family.
So we ask You now, our Lord and Savior,
To enter here and stay forever.
Take this house of wood and stone,
And turn it into a Christian home.

Bless this house, O Lord, we pray,
Make it safe by night and day;
Bless these walls, so firm and stout,
Keeping want and trouble out;
Bless this roof and chimneys tall,
Let Thy peace lie over all;
Bless the doors that they may prove
Ever open to joy and love.
Bless these windows shining bright,
Letting in God's heavenly light;
Bless the hearth ablazing there,
With smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within,
Keep them pure and free from sin;
Bless us all that we may be
Fit, O Lord, to dwell with Thee.
